The Wine:
From one of Etna’s most revered and elegant producers, the 2024 Girolamo Russo “Nerina” is a stunningly pure and mineral-driven Etna Bianco. A blend of Carricante with other local varieties from high-altitude volcanic slopes, this wine captures the essence of its terroir with incredible precision. The nose is bright, precise, and intensely aromatic, with notes of lemon zest, green apple, and white flowers, layered over a powerful core of crushed flint and smoke. On the palate, it’s medium-bodied, taut, and energetic, with a vibrant, almost electric acidity that frames the pristine citrus and orchard fruit flavors. The finish is exceptionally long, clean, and resonant, echoing with a distinct, saline minerality. A benchmark Etna Bianco with incredible purity and tension.
